Alake encourages mining experts to upgrade their skills and support the growth of young people
Minister Dele Alake emphasized the importance of mining professionals enhancing their expertise and knowledge while also mentoring the upcoming generation of miners to gain recognition globally.
Speaking at the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) annual conference in Jos, Alake, represented by Obadiah Nkom, Director General of the Mining Cadastral Office (MCO), commended the valuable contributions of mining engineers and geologists in exploration and extraction activities.
Alake highlighted that the involvement of these professionals is crucial for overcoming the challenges faced in mining operations, as stated in a press release by his Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, in Abuja.
The minister urged mining experts to focus on nurturing young talents to ensure the sustainable growth of the country’s mining industry, emphasizing the need to establish a solid foundation for the future generation of mining professionals.
Alake stressed the significance of promoting awareness about geology and mining careers at the secondary school level, encouraging the NMGS to organize educational initiatives and events that showcase the benefits of pursuing paths in mining sciences to inspire the youth.
