To comply with a police invitation, Joe Ajaero, the President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has arrived at the Force Headquarters in Federal Capital Territory.

Ajaero was in the company of workers, as well as human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and human rights activist/lawyer Deji Adeyanju.

Ajaero and the NLC have denied allegations of terrorism financing that led to their invitation by the police.

Last week, Ajaero had been summoned by the police for interrogation regarding accusations of financing terrorism, committing treasonable felony and cybercrime.

Upon receiving the invitation, the NLC convened an urgent meeting during which they alleged that its leaders were being harassed by the Federal Government and urged their members and affiliates to be on high alert. They also warned of a possible nationwide strike if Ajaero is detained by Nigerian Police Force.

Other labor leaders, opposition politicians and concerned Nigerians joined in condemning the police invitation extended to Ajaero. They advised caution on the part of law enforcement officials.
