Aircraft Veers Off Runway at Lagos Airport

A premium services provider, Xejet Airlines, experienced an incident where one of their aircraft, an Embraer 145, skidded off the runway and ended up in the grass areas at Lagos Airport with 52 passengers and crew members on board, following its departure from Abuja Airport.

The Nation reported that the left runway 18 at the airport was closed to aircraft traffic after the incident, with the Aerodrome Fire and Safety Rescue Unit of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) responding promptly to the scene to assist in rescuing the passengers.

Xejet Airlines, known for its business class-only services, operates from Lagos Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) and faced another runway incident when an aircraft veered off the runway at around 11:29 am, coming to a stop in the grass verge by B5. Fire and rescue personnel were quick to respond and aid in the safe evacuation of passengers, while Runway 18L remained closed for traffic at that time.
