Nigeria’s Super Eagles claimed a hard-fought win against Libya in the AFCON qualifiers, edging out their opponents in a closely contested match to boost their qualification hopes.

On Friday evening, the Nigerian national team, known as the Super Eagles, clinched a tight 1-0 win against Libya in their AFCON 2025 qualifier. This victory was sealed by a late goal from substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

In the thrilling match held in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, Dele-Bashiru captured attention by scoring a decisive late goal that secured Nigeria’s hard-earned victory.

The substitute midfielder quickly made their presence felt by scoring in the 86th minute, breaking the deadlock after a tense and cautious game.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to play the return match in Libya on Tuesday, October 15.

The Super Eagles grappled to establish their rhythm during the match, contending with a resolute Libyan defense that endured relentless Nigerian pressure.

The win maintains the Super Eagles’ strong position in their quest for a spot at AFCON 2025, with the 23-year-old unexpectedly becoming the hero of the night.

Earlier, in the 70th minute, Samuel Chukwueze failed to convert a one-on-one opportunity that could have given Nigeria the lead.
