Guinea secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a decisive 1-0 victory against Equatorial Guinea. In the dying moments of the game, Mohamed Bayo’s header in the 95th minute sealed the win for Guinea.
Despite being the underdogs, Equatorial Guinea couldn’t overcome Guinea’s strong performance. Equatorial Guinea, who defied expectations by finishing at the top of Group A, were eliminated from the tournament. Guinea, on the other hand, advanced to the next stage as one of the best third-place teams from Group C, which included Senegal and Cameroon. The match took place at Ebimpe’s Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium.
