The team led by Rigobert Song was eliminated from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations following a 2-0 loss to longtime rivals Cameroon in their Round of 16 match.
Despite having the better of the game, the five-time champions were unable to produce an effort on goal.
In the hotly contested match, Aboubakar made his first appearance of the competition.
On the eve of the AFCON 2023 finals, the forward suffered an injury that kept him out of Cameroon’s group matches.
Aboubakar’s dismay at the excruciating loss to the Super Eagles was evident.

“Cameroon dominated possession, but we lost the game due to little mistakes.” There is nothing we can do about it since it’s football.
“All we have to do is get up and be ready for the next games. It is regrettable that we will now only be able to watch the AFCON.
