Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has advised Christian couples to never let their spiritual obligations to one another take the place of their marital responsibilities.

Adeboye offered this counsel while discussing the need of preserving romance in unions.

In a post on his official X profile, Adeboye revealed that, when they are by themselves, he and his spouse, Foluke, continue to cultivate their love through pet names.

He emphasized that anointing does not lessen romance and that the only institution in which a man and a woman are permitted to experience passion and intimacy is marriage.

The elderly woman also cautioned couples not to be inflexible in their marriage and not to go out and have more fun without their partners.

“My dear, the anointing does not take away from the necessity of passion in a marriage. Even though Isaac was a prosperous businessman and anointed man of God, the Bible claims in Genesis 26:8 that he was having an affair with his wife:

And it happened after a while that Abimelech, king of the Philistines, peered out of a window and saw, and, lo, Isaac was having an affair with Rebecca, his wife.

“Avoid becoming overly strict in your marriage and refrain from going out to have more fun without your partner. Make sure you and your partner have so much fun together that you look forward to seeing each other every time,” he advised.

“Your marriage still has romance in it, despite the fact that you are Christians. The only institution that permits romance and intimacy between a man and a woman is marriage.

Some pastors don’t often go on dates with their spouses because they view dating as a diversion from their spiritual duties. Some of them no longer even play games with their spouses.
