Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, said on Thursday that the alleged investments made by Peter Obi, his predecessor, were worthless.

Obi is the Labour Party’s nominee for president.
He presided over Anambra from 2006 to 2014 before winning the party’s nomination.

Soludo stated he is not aware of any investment in the state by any of his predecessors during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“I believe I read something about someone speculating on some sort of investment.
The value of those assets is worth almost nothing after what I’ve witnessed today.
The governor answered, “So let’s set that aside.

The governor also discussed the intentions his administration has for the residents of Anambra State, adding that more than 5,000 teachers in the region will soon get job letters.

He said, “To end a period of schools without instructors, we are giving out job letters to more than 5, 000 teachers.

“If you look at the five fingers strategy of our programs, we built our budget to keep our eyes on the ball since we are going to have 240 plus physicians and consultants to staff our general hospitals.”

Following his presentation of the N258.97 billion 2023 budget to the House of Assembly chambers in Awka, the governor made his observations.

The N170 billion amended 2022 budget that Soludo presented in May saw an increase in the budget dubbed “the budget of acceleration.”

The 2023 budget, he claimed during the presentation, represents the “single-minded dedication and commitment to continue pressing the accelerator pedals in spite of the dangerous bumps along the route” of his government.

The budget comprises N164 billion in capital expenditures, or 63.2 percent, and N95.5 billion in recurrent expenditures, or 36.8 percent, for a N13 billion budget deficit.

According to the governor, land transportation, electricity production, and urban reintegration accounted for around N91.8 billion, or 56% of the entire capital expenditure.
