Jamiu Abiola, whose father was the late Nigerian business tycoon Chief MKO Abiola, has alleged that those who were responsible for cancelling the presidential election of June 12th in 1993 are presently working against President Bola Tinubu’s government.
During an interview on Channels Television, Abiola – who is the Special Assistant to Tinubu and works in a special capacity for the President – claimed that those protesting for better living conditions and economic relief are doing so because of their opposition towards the administration’s achievements.
Abiola observed that President Tinubu’s efforts and achievements may not be fully appreciated by the protesters who are expressing their frustration over economic hardships.

He proposed that the turmoil originates from a persistent animosity among particular Nigerians who have faced difficulties in acknowledging the results of the 2023 elections.
He stressed that the issues encountered by Tinubu’s administration reflect the obstacles his father faced, suggesting that certain individuals with ill intentions are targeting to disrupt the current regime.
The public was advised by Abiola to acknowledge that advancement can be challenging and appreciate the president’s dedication towards democracy and societal welfare. He further highlighted the importance of exercising patience, as transformations occur gradually over time.
Starting from August 1st and predicted to last until August 10th, the protests have experienced confrontations between protestors and security personnel, leading to a number of individuals being harmed.
