The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has responded to the defection of some of its members to the rival All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a press release signed by Abraham Amah, the Vice Chairman/acting Publicity Secretary, the party stated that it is not concerned about the defections as the defectors themselves realized that they were no longer useful to the PDP.
The party also revealed that most of those leaving were responsible for the “brief downturn” the PDP experienced during the 2023 polls in Abia.
The Abia PDP sees the defections as a blessing in disguise and has received numerous applications from individuals who are eager to join the party.
The party believes that shedding weight and reinventing itself for the future is necessary, and the exit of those responsible for the downturn is a step in the right direction.
Notably, prominent members such as Anthony Agbazuere and Eze Chikanmayo have joined the APC, causing a stir in the Abia political landscape.
