Onoche Kaykah and Abdullahi Adamu were detained on Thursday by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who are accused of being part of a merciless group of land swindlers intimidating potential property owners in Abuja.
The suspects were apprehended, according to a statement from EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren, on the basis of confirmed intelligence connecting them to a number of land scams in which victims lost their hard-earned money through fraudulent documentation used in property transactions.
“One of their victims described how the suspects first sold a piece of land for N5 million before reselling it to two other people using fictitious paperwork.
“One of the victims allegedly spent N45 million on the property before the real owner took possession of it and had it destroyed.
As soon as the investigation is over, the suspects will be arraigned in court, he added.
