Ekiti resident faces charges for stealing fufu, pot of soup, and noodles

Ojo, a 20-year-old man, was brought before the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ekiti State on Monday to face charges of housebreaking and theft, as reported by Obasanjonews.com.

The items allegedly stolen by the suspect included noodles, maggi seasonings, salt, onions, ‘fufu’, and a pot of soup, all amounting to N300,000 and belonging to the complainant.

The incident, according to the report, took place on Thursday, March 14, 2024, around 12 noon at Falegan, Ilawe Road in Ado-Ekiti.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Moyosola Adesola, highlighted that the accused’s actions violated sections 322 and 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.

Despite the allegations, the defendant, represented by his counsel Olayinka Opaleke, pleaded not guilty to the charges and requested bail.

Following this, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Taiwo Ajibade, granted bail to the defendant in the amount of N50,000 with one surety in a similar sum.

The case was adjourned until April 23 for further proceedings.
