Benue resident dies from electrocution while allegedly attempting to steal transformer

An unidentified young man was electrocuted close to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) centre in Otukpo, which is the headquarters of Benue State’s Otukpo Local Government Area.

Before the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) abruptly restored power, the suspected thief had completed vandalising a transformer on a high-tension pole and was electrocuted.

On Saturday morning, a sizable group of onlookers gathered around the lifeless body, which was found hanging from the high-tension pole.

At the time this report was sent, the suspect’s lifeless body was still being removed by electricity distribution officials from the hung electric pole.

According to a source, “We arrived this morning and discovered the body hanging from the electrical pole at a transformer, holding tools.”
