Nigerian politician and human rights advocate Tanko Yakasai recently informed Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi that politics is not something that is taught in school but rather is a lifelong practise.

Yakasai, a former liaison to former President Shehu Shagari and a founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), made this statement after Peter Obi made his first press conference in Abuja following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) announcement of the results of the presidential election on Wednesday morning.

According to Obi, who announced to the media that he was going to court, he has the requisite evidence to support his allegation that he genuinely won the 2023 presidential election and that his mandate was stolen.

Yakasai stated on Arise Television that Obi must learn to be patient and emphasised that the former governor of Anambra State is still relatively inexperienced in politics.

Previously a banker, he is now a politician. He is currently running for office for the first time. I beg him to please have the required patience,” he stated.

Politics are not taught in schools, claims Yakasai. If he can persevere, I’m confident he’ll be a successful politician who learns from the experience. People speak from many points of view in situations like this.

“If someone is unhappy with the election’s results, you shouldn’t anticipate him to be complimentary of the process, but if you ask someone else, it may be a different story. I’m not shocked at all.
