The 151 Task Force Battalion, Operations Hadin Kai of the Nigerian Army has detained eight members of the young vigilante organization known as the Civilian Joint Task Force in Banki for assisting Boko Haram’s activities.

They were said to be giving the terrorist organization logistical and support supplies.

The defendants were actively acting as terrorists’ intelligence before to their arrest and were involved in supplying terrorists with a variety of goods, including narcotics, petrol, mosquito nets, noodles, and other stuff.

According to military officials, the suspects’ luck ran out when making a deal with the terrorists near a river in the village of Yukami on the outskirts of Banki.

The sources reported that troops engaged in clearance operations near Banki had been put in danger due to the malicious acts of the claimed terrorist accomplices, led by one Mohammed Dungus.

“Unfortunately, Dungus and his cronies sabotaged unit movement and positioning, allowing terrorists to strike the rear element of troops on patrol during operations near Gauri village on October 30.
There were significant deaths on both sides, even though the onslaught was ultimately repulsed, the insider claimed.

The sources further stated that further research was being conducted to identify the network of local collaborators, spies, and other complicit parties.

It is known that CJTF has frequently helped in identifying Boko Haram insurgents, thwarting attacks, and freeing towns and villages that Boko Haram had taken over.

Additionally, despite losing hundreds of members in the process, this organization has been a crucial component of the intelligence network required for effective military operations.

However, some bad apples are engaged in criminal activity and acting as roadblocks to the Nigerian military’s ability to successfully wage war against Boko Haram/ISWAP in the North East, despite their best efforts in the fight against terrorism.
