Thursday, US Vice President Joe Biden stumbled and collapsed while presenting diplomas at a commencement ceremony for the US Air Force Academy in Colorado.

Mr. Biden, the nation’s oldest serving president at the age of 80, was observed being assisted up by Air Force personnel and walking back to his seat unassisted.

The president stood for approximately an hour and a half to clasp hands with all 921 graduating cadets.

A White House press corps report states that he stumbled over a black sandbag.

After regaining his feet, Mr. Biden appears to point to the sandbag on stage in video footage of the incident.

“He is well. “While he was shaking hands, there was a sandbag on stage,” White House communications director Ben LaBolt wrote on Twitter.

Shortly after his fall, the president was observed hobbling back to his motorcade as the ceremony concluded.

Recent surveys indicate that the majority of American voters are concerned about the president’s age.
