2023: UK government announces penalties for anyone who commit acts of violence

To guarantee free, fair, and reliable elections in 2023, the United Kingdom has promised to fund the Independent National Electoral Commission or INEC.

Catriona Laing, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, assured that the UK will closely watch the elections in an interview with NAN on Saturday.

The Commissioner said that the UK government will utilize its immigration program to penalize anyone directly or indirectly implicated in electoral violence.

“I should stress that we always state that each election with our U.S. allies that we will have eyes on; we will be closely watching this election on the ground and via other methods,” she continued.

And we may utilize our visa program to make sure that someone is not permitted to enter the UK if we know that they have been involved in violence, either directly or via instigating violence.

Laing continued to express confidence that the 2023 election will be free and fair thanks to the new electoral legislation, which she said was backed by the UK government.
