2023: Peter Obi implores Wike, “Leave president for me, seize State.”

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has pleaded with Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, to let him win Rivers State in the presidential election while the Labour Party backs PDP in the gubernatorial contest.

On Thursday in Port Harcourt, Obi requested the Nkpolu Oroworukwo flyover’s commissioning ceremony.

Governor Wike should hand the federal election up to Obi, who said that he will not oppose Wike for the position of governor in the state.

When Obi is elected president, the interests of Rivers State will be effectively safeguarded, he claims.

I’ll speak to my folks, and then we’ll bargain, Obi replied.
Wike will leave the centre for us if we leave the state for him.
We’ll bargain about it.

We won’t argue with you, Obi continued, referring to Wike.
Give us this one (centre) and take the other one, please (state).
Rivers State will be accommodated in the other.
Today, keep in mind this pact.
I’m pleading on my knees, please take this and give it to me (centre).
You can be confident that whichever one I choose, I’ll utilize it to make Rivers State even better.

The PDP candidate for governor in Rivers State was referred to as the “incoming governor” by Obi at the start of his address.
