Maulud celebrants in Katsina are shot by bandits, who kill twenty.
On Maulud night, a gang of armed bandits ambushed a number of Muslim residents of Kusa, a hamlet in Katsina State’s Musawa Local Government Area, murdering at least twenty and kidnapping a significant number more.

The attackers allegedly entered into the neighbourhood at around 11:05 p.m. and attacked the naive residents, inflicting anguish and uncertainty.
According to a vigilante witness who witnessed the horrific attack, “The bandits surrounded the Maulud celebration venue and fired gunshot at the participant, injuring many and taking several captives to an unknown location.” Before the security personnel could react to the distress call, the attackers had vanished into their hiding places. Twenty dead were discovered within the village following the incident.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the police spokesperson in Katsina, confirmed the report. “Yeah, during the Maulud procession at 11 p.m., there was an attack in Musawa LGA. An attack by bandits resulted in 18 persons being shot. For medical attention, they were airlifted to a hospital. Two of them passed away later. In order to apprehend the offenders and prosecute them, more research is being conducted.
