Zelenskyy Reaffirms Kyiv’s Commitment to a Peace Deal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy insists that Kyiv is open to a peace agreement as tensions persist. Diplomatic efforts continue amid the ongoing conflict.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reiterated his calls for security guarantees only hours following a public disagreement with U.S. counterpart Donald Trump.
“Simply implementing a ceasefire without security guarantees is extremely sensitive for our people. As the leader of a nation that has been involved in this struggle for three years, I can say my people need assurance that America stands with us and will continue to support us—not align with Russia.”
The Ukrainian leader sought to address the narrative following Trump’s assertion that Kyiv is not committed to achieving peace. “No one desires an end to the war more than us, as we in Ukraine are directly involved in it,” he stated. “We are engaged in this fight for complete freedom and our lives. I believe it’s crucial for us all to be on the same side, and I hope that the president aligns with us because stopping Putin is of utmost importance.”
Zelenskyy also pointed out that the minerals deal, which was scheduled for discussion at Friday’s meeting before the chaos ensued, will be a foundational step towards peace.
