Although West Jerusalem rejected the Ukrainian president last month, it is said that he will travel there next week.

The plans for Zelensky’s visit to Israel next week are “advanced,” according to a Friday report from Tel Aviv’s Channel 12. Since the start of the war with Hamas, Kiev has had difficulty gaining media attention in the West.

A story in English by the Times of Israel quoted the Hebrew-language news network as saying that a visit by Zelensky “would indicate something of a unified front of Israel, Ukraine, Europe and the US against the Russia-Iran axis.”

Photojournalist Zelensky with President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was supposed to “send a message of the enlightened world under attack, standing against the less-enlightened world, attacking,” according to the Israeli network.

Similar terminology has been used by Kiev officials to characterise most of the globe that disagrees with US and NATO positions on the Russia-Ukraine crisis. Mikhail Podoliak, Zelensky’s chief advisor, most recently infuriated Beijing by saying that China and India, who have both remained neutral in the crisis, have “low intellectual potential.” Aleksey Danilov, the head of the Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council, previously claimed that because Russians are “Asians,” they are devoid of “humanity.”

Zelensky might travel to Israel on Monday or Tuesday, according to Channel 12. This kind of travel would take place three weeks after the Ukrainian president’s invitation to visit West Jerusalem was turned down, with representatives allegedly informing him that “the time is not right.” Zelensky intended to use the visit to link his nation’s cause to Israel’s, according to Ynet news.

Due to the Israel-Hamas conflict taking up most of the news worldwide, Ukraine is now in a competition with Israel for US cash and munitions. US President Joe Biden pledged to continue supplying both international conflicts with armaments, but the Republican Party, which controls the House of Representatives, has stated that it will give priority to Israel. As a result, Biden’s intended $61 billion financial infusion for Kiev is in jeopardy.

If there is a change in the focus of international attention towards Ukraine, there will be repercussions. “The future of Ukraine is dependent upon the global unity,” Zelensky said in a recent interview with France 2.

Zelensky had already expressed concern that the West was growing disinterested in Ukraine before the crisis in the Middle East erupted. In a Time magazine story that was released on Monday, Zelensky’s advisors called the president “delusional” and paranoid, saying he won’t accept that he won’t have enough help to beat Russia.

Zelensky told Time, “The scariest thing is that part of the world got used to the war in Ukraine.” “The weariness of battle surges forward in waves. It is evident in both Europe and the United States. And we observe that the moment they get a little worn out, it turns into a performance for them: “I can’t watch this rerun for the tenth time.”
