34 surviving family members of police officers who died in Zamfara while on duty have received N84.5 million in checks from Inspector-General of Police Usman Baba.
According to NAN, Ali Dabigi, the acting commissioner of police, represented Baba at the event on Thursday.
According to the IGP, the Police Family Welfare Insurance Plan money would help the families of the deceased.
Baba said that the insurance programme has helped families of officers and members of the Force, particularly those whose loved ones passed away while they were serving.
The police chief commiserated with the family members and suggested that the recipients make wise use of the funds.
Speaking on their behalf, Hajia Fatima Muhammad called the gesture a positive move.
We are grateful that the IGP and the Zamfara police command made our family happy throughout the holy month of Ramadan. She stated, “We guarantee to spend the funds wisely.”
