In a significant development, notorious bandit leader Kachalla has been gunned down in Zamfara, raising hopes for improved security in the region.
Kachalla Ibrahim Gurgun Daji, a notorious bandit leader infamous for his reign of terror in Zamfara State, was killed by a rival faction on Sunday, October 13th, 2024.
The incident took place in Kwanar Nasiru, located east of Mada town within the Gusau Local Government Area, and his body was left at the location.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama noted that Gurgun Daji was notorious for orchestrating violent attacks along the Kwatarkwashi-Mada road and in nearby regions.
His involvement in criminal activities, such as kidnapping and banditry, established him as a figure feared throughout the region.

His headquarters were situated in Shangel village, to the east of Mada town, where he was also said to have sheltered other criminals like Bello Taggoje.
Gurgun Daji’s reach within Zamfara’s criminal underworld included involvement in the acquisition and management of kidnapped victims, solidifying his authority.
He led a substantial group of followers engaged in numerous acts of banditry and terror throughout the region.
“The death of Kachalla Ibrahim Gurgun Daji represents a significant turning point in the battle against banditry in Zamfara State, as he was viewed as a central figure within the region’s network of armed criminals,” according to the counter-insurgency expert.
