Zamfara government: Subsidy reduction will result in food palliatives for 200,000 families
Tuesday saw the announcement that 200,000 households in Zamfara State would receive palliative care, made by the executive council led by governor Dauda Lawal.
Malam Abubakar Nakwada, Secretary to the State Government, spoke to reporters shortly after an exco meeting and stated that, “as part of the resolutions by the Council, 200,000 vulnerable families in the State will benefit from food stuff as one of the palliative measures to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government.”
In a suitable arrangement for the palliative project, he claimed that some types of State official servants would be taken into consideration for a similar act.
In order to ease the State’s transport issues for students, the Executive Council additionally approved the immediate provision of 10 additional 52-seat Marcopolo buses in addition to the initial 50 palliative buses.
Additionally, he said that under the new palliative arrangement, students in primary schools will be given free transport.
The SSG continued by stating that the Council had examined its efforts to safeguard the lives and property of the State’s citizens.
He said that during the council meeting, Governor Lawal issued directives to the Ministries of Education, Commerce and Industries, and Health, directing them to immediately put their findings and recommendations from the most recent needs assessment to use in order to ensure the most successful service delivery and overall success of their respective Ministries.
Other commissioners have been given the responsibility of taking complete control of their ministries, the speaker stated.
