Mallam Ibrahim Madabanciya, a local, said that the terrorists left their motorcycles outside the hamlet and entered the community on foot at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Sunday.

He clarified that the bandits had assaulted the village with sophisticated weapons in big numbers and had begun firing intermittently to frighten the locals.

He continued by saying that the bandits searched houses for food and other valuables.

“They stole large quantities of animals, food items, and other valuables, without any security operative challenging them,” he added.

“They found a recently married couple and led them to the forest as they made their way around the village.”

He went on to say that no security personnel were stationed in the area to guard the people’ lives and belongings.

As of the time this story was filed, ASP Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, could not be reached for comment.

The State Government announced that it has finalised plans to activate its Community Protection Guards for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

It promised to send guards to their assigned areas to support security officers in their battle against banditry.

Remember that terrorists have been attacking Zamfara State on a regular basis for over ten years, killing people and kidnapping a large number of residents in the process.

It should be remembered that in December 2023, robbers stormed Zurmi town, the state’s headquarters for the Zurmi Local Government Area. During the raid, one person died, two were hurt, and fifteen more were taken hostage.
