In the Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, bandits abducted four residents from the Kolo community.
A man, a woman, and two allegedly orphaned children are among the abducted victims.
A member of the village named Musa Ibrahim said that the robbers first demanded N10 million as ransom before releasing the individuals who had been kidnapped but subsequently settled for N5 million.
The terrorists issued a message on Tuesday saying they would not take old Naira notes, he lamented. “As we were putting our heads together to see how we might get the five million nairas through communal effort,” he said.
He claims that the robbers insisted that the victims of their kidnapping stay in their hideout until December 2022, when the new Naira notes will be in use.
All attempts to get the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Mohammed Shehu, to confirm the development was unsuccessful since he was unable to answer his phone.
