He requested assistance from the security services and added that his life was under danger.

Bello Bakyasuwa, the commandant of the Zamfara State Anti-Thuggery Agency, managed to flee a gunman attack while traveling from Gusau, the state’s capital, to Kaduna.

Bakyasuwa claimed he was attacked by the highly armed individuals along the Kaduna-Zaria Road on Thursday night in a statement signed and released to newsmen on Tuesday.

“I narrowly escaped death, last four days on my way to Kaduna along Funtua-Zaria,” claimed Bakyasuwa, a retired soldier.

“I’m lying in a hospital bed, my life is in danger, and I’m getting constant gunfire from people who I think are sponsored thugs.”

Bakyasuwa emphasized that he spotted two more Hilux cars and a BMW vehicle following him as he drove from Gusau to Kaduna in his Hilux automobile.

“I did not feel comfortable with the vehicles coming behind me, so I stopped at the Yankara security checkpoint and the vehicles passed me,” he claimed.

After passing through Funtua town at around 8:30 p.m., I noticed that the Hilux and BMW cars were after me. Eventually, the BMW car double-crossed and forcibly stopped me on the road.

“The occupants of the cars just started firing at my car, and we engaged them in a brief firefight for a while.

“I jumped out of my automobile, which caused injuries to my face and a dislocated leg.

Bakyasuwa recalled, “But the hired killers kept shooting, and I managed to flee and run into the bush with blood coming out of my body.”

He insisted that he was fortunate to be saved by the police, who showed up at the scene after hearing gunshots.

He claimed, “When the cops showed up, they promptly saved me and transported me to a nearby village’s primary health care center.

After obtaining care in the clinic, I slept in the hamlet before being taken to Kaduna for additional care the next morning by my driver, who had met me there.

According to Bakyasuwa, numerous rounds caused major damage to his Hilux car.

Bakyasuwa bemoaned the fact that armed gunmen had previously ambushed his chauffeur in Gusau town a few months prior as he traveled from the Command Guest-Inn to Anguwar Gwaza, seizing his office Hilux vehicle in the process.

He requested assistance from the security services and added that his life was under danger.
