Ali Ndume, a lawmaker for Borno South Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, claims that the Labour Party’s (LP) performance in the general elections of 2023 demonstrated that young people and the middle class were growing weary of the older generation, which has dominated politics for decades.

Ndume, a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, added that LP’s performance in the recently held elections exceeded his expectations.

When asked if the election results met his predictions, Ndume responded, “Absolutely, but there were shocks in certain locations, including Lagos and the South-East. Well, LP’s performance exceeds my expectations.

Ndume, the chairman of the Senate Committee on the Army, has served in the National Assembly for 20 years. The leader of the opposition Labour Party, Peter Obi, received almost six million votes at the election over a month ago, according to the chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

When asked if he had ever imagined Peter Obi could exert such influence, Ndume responded, “Yes, even in the general elections everywhere, especially.” Six million people voted for him (Obi).
