Your one-sided appointments, Nigeria, not Lagos- Asari Dokubo tells Tinubu
The choices made by President Bola Tinubu have drawn criticism from Asari Dokubo, a former militant commander of the Niger Delta.
Dokubo bemoaned the biassed and potentially harmful appointments made by Tinubu for the sake of Nigeria.
The Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi was criticised by the former agitator in a widely shared video for his opposition to Nyesom Wike’s nomination as Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister.

Dokubo questioned Gumi’s belief that Muslims alone should own the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), given that the region is owned by all Nigerians.
Dokubo voiced reservations over the appointments made by Tinubu, claiming that they benefited a specific segment of the nation.
“Nigerians voted for the Muslim-Muslim ticket because they know who Tinubu is. I did not vote for Tinubu because he is a Muslim, but rather because I know what he is capable of doing, even though his appointments are biassed right now,” he spoke.
This is not Lagos, so we must speak up. The president needs to be aware of how risky it is to go with his appointment-making process as though Nigeria belongs to Lagos. We must draw attention to this even if we are aware of how many issues he already faces.
“Mr. President, we all own this country; let’s review the appointments and strike a balance.”
