Kenyatta thinks that now that the elections are done, it is up to Tinubu to bring all Nigerians together regardless of their political, religious, or other connections.
Former Kenyan leader Uhuru Kenyatta has asked Bola Tinubu to bring Nigerians together as president-elect.
Prior to Tinubu’s oath of office, he delivered the charge on Saturday in Abuja at the presidential inauguration lecture.
Kenyatta thinks that now that the elections are done, it is up to Tinubu to bring all Nigerians together regardless of their political, religious, or other connections.
He delivered the keynote address at the occasion and said that “the competition is now over and the hard work of building a prosperous and united Nigeria now begins.”
“When you take office as president, it would be prudent to move above the election’s tactical politics and step into your position as Nigeria’s visionary.
The adversarial attitude that we politicians are trained to adopt throughout the political process will need to be completely overhauled in order to address this.
Because you are now the father of everyone, you must rapidly learn how to lead both those who love you and those who don’t with equal passion and dedication.
“Let Them Breathe”
He advised Tinubu to regard himself as the “symbol of unity” and to reach out to the opposition despite the fact that the elections may have split the nation.
Reaching out across political, ethnic, and religious boundaries to individuals who may feel unfairly treated by your triumph in some manner will benefit you much, Kenyatta remarked. Please let them breathe and include them in your plans for a bigger Nigeria.
He identified corruption, bad ethnicity, and religious prejudice as the three enemies of nationhood, but he hopes that Tinubu will have the fortitude to defeat them thanks to the lessons learned from all across the continent.
“As your fellow African, I look forward to a Nigeria that emerges from this transition ready to flex and fight for its rightful place on the global stage with both hands,” said the former Kenyan president.
