Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have spoken on the Alaba International Market’s demolition.
Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, was also present at the meeting, which took place yesterday in Lagos.
After the meeting, Sanwo-Olu declared it a success and noted that topics of shared interest were covered.
The meeting had gone very well, the Lagos governor stated. We had covered topics of interest to all of us, particularly those related to the planned demolition of Alaba Market.
“There has been a lot of incorrect communication and information. We have clarified the situation following our discussion this afternoon and realized the importance of continuing our cooperation.
The state of Lagos’s government has started the process of tearing down troubled structures at the Alaba International Market’s Ojo Local Government Area.
The collaborative exercise was started by the enforcement team of the Lagos State Task Force and the Lagos State Building Control Agency, or LASBCA.
The affected business owners and several Igbo organisations had denounced the destruction and said they were being singled out because of the intrigues surrounding the 2023 presidential race.
