Yobe, the NDLEA seizes 62kg of cannabis sativa and detains three individuals
The Yobe State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, reports that its agents have seized 33 blocks of Cannabis Sativa hidden inside two sacks of groundnuts.
This was revealed by the Command in a brief statement given to journalists on Friday in Damaturu by Ramatu SB, its Principal Staff Officer for Media and Advocacy.
The 133 blocks of compressed Cannabis Sativa weighing 62.0kg, which came from Taraba State, were allegedly found in Yobe State’s Potiskum Local Government Area along the Potiskum-Gombe route.
Three suspects in relation to the unlawful trafficking were captured throughout the process.
On August 23, 2023, a group of Operatives – Strike Force of the NDLEA, Yobe State Command, under the direction of CSN Jibril Odiba, pursued and stopped one ash-colored Sharon galaxy vehicle with the registration number AKK 484XA from Ba-isa Local Government in Taraba State.
“Three suspects in the vehicle, Ya’u Yahuza ‘M’ 30 years old, Yahaya Muhd ‘M’ 29 years old, and Tanimu Salisu ‘M’ 20 years old, all natives of Gombe State, were arrested with 133 blocks weighing to be 62.0kg of compressed weeds,” it stated.
The War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaign, according to the NDLEA Yobe State command, has been brought to the NYSC Orientation Camp being held in Dazigau, Nangere Local Government Area, Yobe State.
Around 1,700 corps members were educated on the causes and repercussions of drug usage under the direction of the Potiskum Area Command’s ACN Aliyu Yaro.
The campaign included lengthy debates on the topic as well as Q&A sessions.
