Yobe flood: one fatality, 14 injuries
According to the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, floods in Damaturu, the state’s capital, resulted in one fatality and 14 injuries of varied severity.
Mohammed Goje, the agency’s executive secretary, made the news on Friday via his verified Facebook page. He noted that the SEMA team had quickly assessed the incident.
Over 200 houses have been impacted, according to findings, in the neighbourhoods of Pompomari, Nayi-Nawa, Abbari West, Bulabulin Tsallake, Ganyen Kura, Malari Behind WfP Warehouse, and 3-bedroom Gujba Road Housing Estate.
The humanitarian organisation expressed sympathy to the victims and gave the assurance that, within its means, they would get immediate assistance.
He pleaded with the public, saying, “While resources are mobilised, communities are enjoined to kindly adhere to early warnings on relocation, drainage clearing, and all measures that will prevent adverse effects of flooding.”
