Yemi Elesho, a well-known skit maker and content creator, has revealed that Asake’s friends from his struggling artist days are expressing their dissatisfaction with his lack of response to their messages.
Elesho, who attended the same university as Asake, disclosed that the singer was unable to afford accommodation during his four years at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and had to rely on the kindness of friends.
However, since achieving stardom, Asake has seemingly abandoned these friends. Elesho acknowledged that it is only natural for Asake to distance himself from some of his “old friends” as he cannot possibly maintain close relationships with everyone. In a recent interview with Echo Room, Elesho stated, “Asake is now a big name, and many of his friends are upset that he no longer responds to their messages.
But it’s to be expected; he can’t bring everyone along with him.” Asake signed with YBNL Nation in February 2022 and subsequently released his debut extended play, Ololade, which included his breakout hit ‘Omo Ope’ featuring Olamide, as well as the single ‘Sungba.’
