General Yakubu Gowon, rtd, the former head of state and creator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has been congratulated by Brigadier General YD Ahmed, the director general of the programme, on reaching 89 years old in October.
Leading a group of directors, employees, and NYSC members to Gowon’s home, Ahmed thanked God that his life had not been taken.

In response, Gowon congratulated the Director General and the whole NYSC for continuing to innovate and fly the Scheme’s flag.
Gowon added that he was confident the NYSC Trust Fund Bill would be resolved.
In addition, he urged the NYSC members to uphold discipline, loyalty, and patriotism in their service to the country.
