Yahaya Bello claims that the EFCC asked him to leave without any interrogation during an alleged fraud investigation. Get the latest details.
Yahaya Bello, the ex-Governor of Kogi State, departed from the premises of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja on Wednesday. This was following his visit to their facilities earlier that day where he addressed allegations regarding a N80.2 billion fraud against him as summoned by the agency for investigation purposes.
After months of dodging the EFCC’s summons and failing to appear in court regarding the case, this has finally come about.
Accompanied by his successor, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State, Bello showed up at the EFCC headquarters after being declared wanted for not appearing in court hearings.
Bello reported to the EFCC with the intention of clearing his name from fraud accusations, as stated by him.
According to a statement from Ohiare Michael, the Head of Yahaya Bello Media Office, it was disclosed that officials at the EFCC requested for Bello’s departure without subjecting him to any questioning during his visit.
