Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has cautioned teachers to be accountable in their conduct as well as in their instructional methods.
Speaking during the World Teachers Day celebration in Malam Aminu Kano Triangle, Dutse, on Thursday, the governor issued the warning.
The mother of all professions, he said, the teaching profession demands dedication and sacrifice from its members in order to improve society.
“You must act responsibly and fairly towards our children; by doing so, you are also instilling moral values. You must act well wherever you go because you are a role model for our children.”
You should thank God that you found yourself in this career since teaching is a great vocation that I have loved and consider to be my best one.
The Governor stated that his government is working hard to enhance the state’s teaching and learning.
“We are doing everything we can to improve teaching and learning, as well as your welfare, training, and retraining.”
Abdulkadir Yunusa, the state chairman of NUT, made a request to the state government for sufficient money to address the sector’s educational issues.
To close the state’s current teacher shortage, he nevertheless pleaded with the state administration to offer permanent positions to the hired J-teach.
