World Cup 2022: Messi might shatter two Maradona records in Qatar
At the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, Argentina captain Lionel Messi will have the opportunity to shatter two records currently held by the late football legend Diego Maradona.
Messi has so far made 19 appearances at the biennial competition.
Two games separate the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner from Maradona, who holds the record for most World Cup matches played by an Argentine.
In addition, the 35-year-old has five assists and needs four more to tie Maradona’s tournament record of eight assists.
Remember how the Napoli icon helped Argentina win the World Cup in 1986 with the aid of five of Maradona’s eight assists?
Argentina will play teams like Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Poland in Group C of this year’s World Cup.
