An employment opportunity has been made available by the World Bank in its Abuja branch, inviting qualified candidates to submit their applications before September 25th, 2024.

On Thursday, in a post on its X handle, Word Bank Nigeria announced that it is seeking applications for the role of Transport Specialist. The ideal candidate would possess exceptional technical skills and expertise in managing urban mobility as well as the transport sector.

The primary objective of this position is to improve the transportation infrastructure and services throughout Nigeria by targeting locally hired personnel.

Main duties:

As a Task Team Co-Leader, monitor and handle transportation projects or aid in their supervision by guaranteeing efficient planning, design, procurement, construction operations while addressing gender considerations as well as climate change.

Assist in conducting technical discussions with Nigerian government officials regarding urban transportation, under the supervision of both the Transport Group Practice Manager and Infrastructure Portfolio Program Leader.

Participate actively in analytical researches about city mobility, available financial alternatives, resilience to climate change and optimum approaches for infrastructure investment as well as management.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create essential reports, such as Systematic Country Diagnostics (SCD) and Country Climate and Development Reports (CCDR).

Collaborate with the transport practice community to enhance understanding and exchange valuable ideas by forming specialized technical groups focused on certain themes, as well as producing technical notes.

Reported to: Practice Manager of IAWT3

Requirements:

A graduate level education, specifically a Master’s degree or higher in fields like engineering, economics, finance, urban transport planning or a relevant area.

A minimum of 5 years’ worth of significant experience in matters related to urban and general transportation, exhibiting a demonstrated ability for policy creation, investment prioritization, financing strategies, asset management methods and contract administration.

Having prior involvement with World Bank or comparable initiatives in developing nations is preferred.

It is essential to have a profound comprehension of Nigeria’s urban mobility industry.

Excellent command over the English language, proficient in quantitative methods and possess strong skills to build a healthy client relationship.
