The Women’s AFCON 2024 group draw is set! Nigeria takes on Tunisia, while South Africa meets Ghana in the race for continental glory.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been placed in Group B of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they will face Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana.
As record holders of the competition, Nigeria will be looking to continue their impeccable form in the tournament.
The draws for the 2025 women’s tournament took place on Friday.
The Super Falcons announced on their X handle on Friday that they will compete in Group B with Algeria, Tunisia, and Botswana at the Morocco 2024 CAF Women’s African Cup of Nations.
“This is set to be an exhilarating challenge as we strive to regain our continental triumph.”
Nigeria triumphed over Algeria with a 6-1 aggregate score in a two-leg friendly match held in the West African country.
In the most recent competition, they ended in a disappointing fourth place; however, they have clinched the WAFCON title nine times.
The Super Falcons are set to face France in a friendly match on November 30th.
In Group A, host nation Morocco will face off against Zambia, Senegal, and DRC Congo. Meanwhile, defending champions South Africa are set to compete against Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania.
The tournament is scheduled to start in July 2025.
