Ago Palace Way in Okota, Lagos State, is where a police officer who has not yet been named is believed to have dragged a car’s steering wheel while it was moving, killing at least four occupants, among them a woman and her two children.

The driver was earlier detained by some police officials, according to an eyewitness who reported the development on his X account, #tobe_stevee.

He said that the incident happened when the motorist made an effort to flee while being transported to the local police station.

“Something happened in my area this morning,” he wrote. When a vehicle was pulled over by the police, one of the officers got in his car while the others followed. On the way to the station, however, the driver made the quick decision to play a fast one and took a diversion at the okota roundabout.

The policeman and the driver started fighting for the wheel as the car was moving. At some point, both of them lost control, and the car struck a tricycle (keke). A mom, her two children, and the rider are all in the tricycle. They all passed away. We pray for the soul to be at peace.

OBASANJO NEWS24’s attempts to get in touch with the Lagos State Police command were unsuccessful because SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police public relations officer, was unavailable to answer the phone.

Additionally, he did not reply to our correspondent’s text message that was sent to him.
