The governor declared that he is certain to win reelection in the Imo State election on November 11.

The outcome of Imo State’s presidential election, according to Governor Hope Uzodimma, won’t have any impact on the state’s approaching governorship election in November.

In the Imo State presidential election on February 25, the Labour Party received almost 300,000 votes, as opposed to the 66,171 votes received by Uzodimma’s APC.

The governorship race, according to Uzodimma, is a different matter entirely. He believes he has what it takes to win a second term in office on November 11.

“Governorship elections in Nigeria are not calculated or evaluated using results from the presidential election. The outcome of a presidential election in Nigeria is determined by the votes cast in each state. APC prevailed in terms of total votes cast in Nigeria.

“The outcome of the governorship election will be determined by votes cast in Imo State. On Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Uzodimma said: “And until that is done, nobody is going to beat his chest to tell you this is going to be the outcome.

Project Oguta Lake Will Create 500,000 Jobs

The governor also discussed the hypographic survey and dredging of the sea passage from Oguta Lake to the Atlantic Ocean, which was flagged off on Thursday. He said that when the project is finished, it will have created 500,000 employment.

Even though Uzodimma stated that precise information about all the project’s benefits cannot be assessed at this early stage, he is optimistic that it would generate enough jobs to address young unemployment.

“We are in the project conception stage, and the latest step, or project flagging-off, is what we term preliminary engineering. We will perform the detailed engineering following the preliminary engineering, by which time the required data for a high integrity detailed engineering would have been obtained.

Uzodimma stated, “However, from a conceptual standpoint, it is estimated that upon completion, this project is capable of providing 500,000 jobs.

“The agitation you see in the South-East, the confusion you see in Nigeria, and the radicality you see among our youths can be blamed on idleness, unemployment, and I am sure that the Federal Government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari is interested in creating employment for our youth,” the governor continued.
