Wike urges youths and stakeholders to refrain from joining the protest over hardship, promoting different approaches to address the issue.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of FCT, is rallying youths and other stakeholders in Abuja to abstain from participating in the planned nationwide protests on hunger and hardship scheduled for August 1-10.

During a ministerial engagement with youths from Abuja South Federal Constituency in Kwali Area Council of the FCT on Sunday, Wike expressed his intention to engage with stakeholders and young adults residing within Bwari and Gwagwalada area councils regarding similar issues in upcoming days.

Stakeholders in Abuja Municipal Area Council had a similar meeting on Saturday, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to Wike, the purpose of their interaction was to educate them on the negative consequences of engaging in protests and dissuade them from participating.

The Minister expressed gratitude towards the traditional rulers and area council chairmen for gathering FCT youths together to educate them on abstaining from joining protests that do not directly concern them.

Protesting is unnecessary at this point as the current administration has only been in office for a year, which is insufficient to evaluate its achievements.

“It is not fair to evaluate one’s leadership within just a year. Although I haven’t been in office for a complete year, my achievements speak volumes and should be acknowledged by the people as evidence that FCT is making progress,” he stated.

He believes that significant progress has been made in education, health care and various other fields, especially in the area of security.

He implored the residents to praise and motivate the security agencies for their efforts, stating that it would be unjust not to.

According to him, it would be unjust to assert that we have not taken any action regarding insecurity since we’ve boosted security in the FCT.

According to him, peace was the desired outcome amidst current developments in FCT rather than protest.

Wike stated that peace is essential in FCT and as such, they cannot sit idly by and watch it crumble under the guise of protest.
