Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has publicly apologized to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for lobbying against his candidate in the 2020 election for governor of Edo State.
The governor also expressed regret for all he had said against Oshiomhole during the Edo State election.
On Wednesday, Wike made the call while speaking at the Rumuepirikom flyover’s commissioning ceremony in Port Harcourt.
The project was commissioned by Oshiomhole, who was the special guest of honour.
Wike served as the head of the PDP Edo State Campaign Council, which campaigned to ensure that Governor Godwin Obaseki was re-elected.
Since then, Obaseki and Wike had a falling out.
Gov. Wike addressed the audience and said: “I would want to use this opportunity to apologize to you. You are aware that I travelled to Edo State to prevent your candidate from winning the election, and I essentially held the reins. Every day I challenged you on television and I predicted that you would lose, and you did not. That task has been completed. Who is now known? Please accept my heartfelt apologies.
People will compliment you when you do anything for them each time you learn something new, but the day you admit you were mistaken, they start saying all kinds of things.
Gov. Wike, on the other hand, charged Oshiomhole with dispatching security forces to Rivers State in 2019 to sway the state’s governorship race.
