The governor said that the PDP at the national level has never truly loved the state in the first place about the cancellation of Atiku Abubakar’s presidential rally in Rivers.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) G5 or Integrity Group, according to the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, is still going strong and would carry out its agenda in the election for president on February 25, 2023.
In the state’s Ahoada East Local Government Area, he spoke on Tuesday during the party’s governorship campaign.
They reported that G5 was no longer alive. What exactly is the issue? Why are they anxious? As he spoke to PDP fans wearing party gear, Wike questioned.
The G5 is made up of five disgruntled PDP governors from southern Nigeria, including Wike, Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu).
The five governors have consistently demanded that Iyorchia Ayu resign as PDP national chairman as a condition of their support for the party’s front-runner, Atiku Abubakar, for president.
The five governors, who are known to travel abroad together and engage in solidarity efforts in their states, have not been spotted together recently. The change encouraged rumours that their union was no longer effective.
However, Wike stated on Tuesday that the G5 will take action on D-day next week.
“They are unaware that in politics there are times to talk and times to act. The event happens on February 25. Even if they pressure us, they can’t know what our plans are. According to him, the more you look, the less you see.
No vulture can endure me and talk, she said. No one will give up Rivers State for a bowl of oatmeal.
In response to Atiku’s presidential rally being postponed in Rivers, the governor said that the PDP at the national level has never truly loved the state.
Wike declared, “When they claimed the rally had been cancelled, it was a lie; they don’t want to admit they can’t mobilise. PDP hasn’t explicitly stated that they adore Rivers State, though.
“Heavy flooding in our area caused problems; it took over our homes. Did the PDP (presidential) candidate or any other party leadership show any remorse for us? But they travelled to Bayelsa and Delta. They proved to us that they do not adore us. We control our own fate, thus no problem. No one can compel us to do anything.
The former minister argued that the insecurity justification offered by Atiku’s team for postponing the rally is unpersuasive. Wike noted that both the Labour Party’s (LP) Peter Obi and the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso campaigned in Rivers without coming under attack.
“Peter Obi came, I provided him automobiles, he ran for office, and then he departed, nothing happened to him,” When Kwankwaso arrived here, I provided him cars, and he ran for office without incident. I granted them access to my stadium after APC requested it, and I will continue to do so if they request vehicles. However, according to your party (PDP), Rivers is unsecure, he said.
