Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Integrity Group, also known as the G-5, were visibly jubilant following the successful conclusion of the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting on Thursday.
The celebration was led by prominent figures such as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, ex-governor Samuel Ortom, ex-Abia State governor Okezie Ikpeazu, and Ifeanyi Uguwanyi of Enugu State, who were all in attendance at the meeting in Abuja.
The 98th NEC meeting of the PDP took place at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja, drawing a significant presence of key party members and stalwarts.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and optimism as the outcome of the meeting was met with approval and celebration.
The National Working Committee, NWC, of the PDP expressed its confidence in the party’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum, during the meeting.
This vote of confidence was officially announced by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, through a statement released to the press.
Umar Iliya Damagum’s appointment as the Acting National Chairman came after the removal of Iyorchia Ayu in the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election.
Damagum’s alignment with the camp led by Nyesom Wike contributed to the elation and celebration among the G-5 governors, reflecting a sense of unity and solidarity within the party.
