Wike Declares No Regrets for Supporting Tinubu

Governor Nyesom Wike expresses unwavering confidence in his decision to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing his commitment to his political stance.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), stated that he does not regret supporting President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general elections.

notes that prior to his ministerial appointment, Wike served as the governor of Rivers State for eight years with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

President Tinubu later appointed him as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory in the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government.

During a thanksgiving service in Ochigba organized by the PDP for Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas of the state, Wike expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for having faith in him.

Wike mentioned that he faced threats for backing Tinubu before the presidential elections, but expressed his willingness to support him again if given another opportunity.

“I have no regrets and offer no apologies. If given the chance, I would do it again,” he stated.

The Minister also refuted claims made by some residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, accusing him of land grabbing.

He emphasized that the right actions are necessary, warning those holding government land to act appropriately or face potential revocation of their plots.

The former governor of Rivers State dismissed the accusation of land grabbing against him as laughable.

“I’m responsible for the lands in Abuja, so why would I take possession of something I’m already overseeing?”

We need to express our gratitude to Mr. President; without his support, we wouldn’t have had this opportunity or understanding. In Rivers State, we initially believed it was a challenging situation.

“I can assure you, regardless of the complaints or propaganda you bring forward, even if you label me however you wish, the right thing must be done,” he added.
