Minister Nyesom Wike of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is currently hosting a town hall meeting with residents of Bwari Area Council to address the ongoing issues of kidnapping and homicide in the area.

In attendance at the meeting are Philip Aduda, a former senator representing the FCT, the Bwari Council of Chiefs, security agencies, and officials from the area council.

There has been public outcry following the deaths of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, who was kidnapped along with 22 others in the Bwari Area of the FCT, and 13-year-old Folasade Ariyo, who was kidnapped along with eleven others, including three of her siblings and their mother, in the Sagwari Estate Layout, Dutse-Alhaji Area of Abuja.

After the killing of Folashade Ariyo and two others, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N700m for the remaining victims, initially asking for N60m. This led Mr. Oladosu Ariyo, the father of the late Folashade, to seek assistance from the Nigerian Bar Association.
