Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), praised the Ijaw nation, referring to them as “good people” who should not be linked with negativity.

Wike mentioned this during his speech at a Thanksgiving Service in Abalama town, located in the Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Saturday.

The former governor of Rivers State recently took the opportunity to discuss urgent political matters and reiterated his dedication to maintaining constitutional procedures.

Wike stressed that he would avoid interfering with the constitutional duties of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

“I will not hinder the Assembly from fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities,” he stated firmly, emphasizing his respect for democratic institutions.

The minister seized the opportunity to criticize Tammy Danagogo, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), along with other politicians, accusing them of misleading the state governor for their own selfish interests.

He claimed that the SSG and his older brother, Justice Danagogo, colluded to secure an ex parte order. The governor purportedly used this order to present the budget exclusively to four individuals.

“They will lead you to hellfire,” Wike cautioned, expressing his frustration over what he termed as unethical political tactics.

Wike also criticized efforts to incite ethnic sentiments, especially following Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s recent court defeats. He reminded everyone of his past successes and promised to keep defeating those who oppose him.

“We can’t be pushed aside after all our hard work and dedication. Each of you has endured hardships, yet now someone who gained power overnight thinks they can order us to leave. Who gave them the right to do that? Would you accept such a command?” Wike asked the crowd, prompting strong reactions from those gathered.

The Minister’s speech struck a chord with many as he reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the interests of his allies and standing firm against any efforts to undermine his political framework in the state.
