The conflict between Dr. Iyorchia Ayu and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has just just begun, according to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
In Okoro-nu-Odo, in the State’s Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Wike gave a speech on Monday at the opening of the Community Secondary School that had been renovated.
He said that it was absurd to enable someone to lead the PDP if they were unable to win their voting place, ward, local government, or state in the most recent general election.
“Ask the PDP candidates for chairman, ‘What do you have to offer the party right now?'” You lost in your state, ward, local government, and unit in the recent presidential election. Which gathering will you now lead?
Once Atiku Abubakar emerged as the PDP presidential candidate, the G-5 governors and members of the Integrity Group urged that Ayu quit. Wike said that it was God who hardened Ayu’s heart and prevented him from doing so.
He pointed out that if Ayu had left at that time, his “cohorts,” who were fiercely opposed to the zoning of elective and appointive jobs, would have used that as a justification for the party’s performance in the recently held general elections.
After the PDP’s “catastrophic defeat,” the governor declared that Ayu’s continued service as its national chairman would be morally repugnant.
“Those of you who are protesting the fact that they have suspended him, you have not yet seen anything. It has begun to fight. The battle just got underway, Ayu. Tell Iyorchia Ayu that the war has just just begun if you know him or if you are close to him.
Dr. Ayu, according to Wike, let the PDP of Benue State to elude him rather than using his position to tighten its hold.
He claims that the party cannot be financially supported by PDP-run states while also allowing Ayu to continue serving as chairman.

Will you preside over the Rivers PDP, for which I have already won? You want to come here and rule over these rivers and states so that we would start giving money to your party? You should invite your State as well so that it may fund the national party. You are not allowed to rule over us if you don’t give your State. Can’t be done.
Wike previously stated that some party members were considering joining forces with Dr. Ayu to fight back the suspension that had been imposed on him.
Such people, he said, would be acting in their own interests’ harm since they would have to deal with the repercussions.
Let the National Secretary to hurriedly travel to Abuja, if you desire. You will find out what you will encounter if you let them meet this afternoon and argue that the suspension is illegitimate. We’ll show you what tiny lads can do to you if you keep calling us little boys.
